Enterprise Deployment

Deploy Classroom Monitor with one Setup EXE via Active Directory Group Policy or Microsoft Intune. Same file as Force Update; no multi-file folder required.

Per-channel interactive install (Windows, browsers, Android): Setup guide.

One-file package

Download ClassroomMonitor-Setup from /downloads (or version-info.json setup_url / durable /downloads/installers/latest/setup.exe). An MSI is also published (msi_url / latest/setup.msi). Tip auto-update and Update / Downgrade use MSI when the client was MSI-installed; Setup installs keep Setup EXE.

/quiet /norestart INSTALLATION_TYPE=Student

  • Student (lab): INSTALLATION_TYPE=Student
  • Teacher (console): INSTALLATION_TYPE=Teacher
  • Server: INSTALLATION_TYPE=Server

Group Policy Deployment

Preferred: Computer Configuration Startup scripts with the one Setup EXE. Optional: native Software Installation can use the published MSI (msiexec INSTALLATION_TYPE=Student|Teacher|Server).

  1. Copy the Setup EXE to a share readable by Domain Computers (example: \\fileserver\Software\ClassroomMonitor\).
  2. Create a GPO linked to the computer OU.
  3. Computer Configuration → Policies → Windows Settings → Scripts (Startup/Shutdown) → Startup → Add the EXE (or a one-line .cmd that calls it).
  4. Parameters: /quiet /norestart INSTALLATION_TYPE=Student (or Teacher / Server).
  5. Scope Security Filtering, run gpupdate /force on a test PC, reboot, confirm Program Files\ClassroomMonitor and HKLM\SOFTWARE\NewsTargeted\ClassroomMonitor.

Install log: %ProgramData%\ClassroomMonitor\Logs\setup.log

Microsoft Intune Deployment

  1. Download the same Setup EXE (Win32 app package).
  2. Intune → Apps → Windows → Add → Windows app (Win32).
  3. Install command: ClassroomMonitor-Setup-vX.Y.Z.exe /quiet /norestart INSTALLATION_TYPE=Student
  4. Detect C:\Program Files\ClassroomMonitor\ClassroomMonitor.exe; assign to device groups.

Updates

After the first install, tip auto-update and Update / Downgrade use Setup EXE or MSI matching the install type. Replacing the share file and Startup path refreshes GPO deployments for new machines.
